Qur'an
The Qur'an or Koran is the central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God. It is organized into 114 chapters, which consist of verses. In addition to its religious significance, it is widely regarded as the finest work in Arabic literature and has significantly influenced the Arabic language.

Attractive Persian Qur'an, in Arabic with interlinear translation to Persian throughout, Eastern regions of Safavid Persia, early seventeenth century. A large 4to sized Qur'an, written in Arabic with interlinear Persian translation throughout, opening two leaves with elaborate blue and gilt decorations to borders, single column, 9 lines of each language per leaf, Arabic script in black naskh, Persian translation in red nasta'liq throughout, surah headings in gold throughout, leaves with polychrome ruling in red, blue and gold throughout, some very light scattered finger soiling, some marginal repairs, else very clean and attractive condition internally. Housed in European leather over pasteboards, decorated in blind and with an embossed central motif in gilt, extremities scuffed and worn. A worn, rubbed matching leather spine, marbled endpapers.
