[Illustrations of European Nobility.] Twenty-one hand-coloured plates, 399 pp., captions on tissue guards. Plates, measuring approx 10.5" x 7.5", are magnificent, with bright colours and lots of gilding. Plates are generally clean (a few have slight light foxing). Some foxing throughout text pages a symptom of the stock of paper used for text, not the same as the heavier stock used for plates. Binding tight. Full leather, with some soiling and wear to boards. The decorative gilt to the spine is still reasonably bright. Some tissue guards are missing. Those intact are well-preserved but, of course, have offsetting and some foxing. MS wording and signature in French to prelim. Overall in VGC. Coloured plates in order: 1. Lusignan. 2. Beaumanoir. 3. Armagnac. 4. Montgommery. 5. De Broglie. 6. De Bonneval. 7. D'Aubusson. 8. Cosse Brissac. 9. D'Etourmel. 10. Eglington. 11. D'Armagnac-Castagnes. 12. Douglas. 13. Kergorlay. 14. Bethune. 15. Radepon. 16. Cosnac. 17. Clermont-Tonnerre. 18. Bouille. 19. Gonzague. 20. Gramont. 21. Beauveau.
