One of the rarest books by Saillet and perhaps the most influential children's author in 19th century France. ILLUSTRATED WITH 12 DELICATELY HAND-COLOURED LITHOGRAPHS. 4to. Beautifully bound in contemporary quarter morocco and cloth, spine elaborately gilt in five compartments; lettered in gilt to the second. Light wear to extremities of binding; all edges gilt; corners bumped. Light scattered foxing internally plates bright and fresh. Not in Gumuchian, who devotes a whole section to Saillet.
