NUMBER 12 OF ONLY 25 HAND-COLOURED LARGE-PAPER COPIES OF THE FIRST AND ONLY EDITION of this facetious study of loose women in late 19th century Paris, with the MS signature of Monnier. The unusual and yet typically fin-de-siecle illustrations by Galice, which decorate every page, are BEAUTIFULLY COLOURED BY HAND WITH WATERCOLOURS AND METALLIC PAINT. 'Glyptographie' portraits in two states--in sanguine and black--precede each chapter. ONE OF ONLY 25 NUMBERED COPIES PRINTED ON IMPERIAL JAPAN PAPER (the only large-paper copies) signed by the publisher and with two states of the portraits. (The copies on Japan paper are particularly desirable because they are coloured by hand and the rest on the edition was printed on acidic paper, which won't last too much longer.) 4to. 1/4 morocco over marbled boards.
