PFEIFFER, Franz, and F. Fellner.
Die Weingartner Liederhandschrift.
The Weingartner song manuscript is a collection of love poetry from the early 14th century. Exceptions are a hymn by Walther von der Vogelweide, a Marian praise (attributed in manuscript C to Gottfried von Straßburg, but not his), the Minnelehre of Johann von Konstanz, and a later entry of ten lines on the last page. The Weingartner manuscript is considered to be the main source of our knowledge of the heyday of minnesang, along with the other two Upper German song manuscripts, the large (manuscript C) and the small Heidelberg song manuscript (manuscript A), and brings together all the important poets of the High Middle Ages who lived between 1170/80 and 1230/40 cast. It was probably made in Constance between 1310 and 1320.
