First edition of 1874 of this splendid iconographic work of 18th-century costumes. The two-volume work is a collection of 40 etchings engraved by A. Guillaumot based on a design by Draner. The first volume contains characters: Sergeant, Flower merchant, Harcourt college student, Borghese, Preceptor, merchant's daughter, farmer, servant, and others. The second volume is dedicated to fashion and hairstyles.

4to. 20 (Hand-Colored) Eaux-Fortes de A. Guillaumot Fils d'apres les dessins de M. Draner in the first work and 30 (Hand-colored) Eaux Fortes de A. Guillaumot Fils in the second work but without portrait. Boards are worn at extremities and along sping and hinges. Spine re-backed. Half leather over marbled boards with a single line of gilt rule, top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers, with tissue guards, some minor foxing to text, else good. *Ron Norman of Hartlepool carried out rebinding and restoration work on this book.
